Volunteer Vacancies in the SS Explorer Preservation Society
Please note all these vacancies are unpaid and will require the successful applicant to join the society (£24pa, £12pa concessions). All applications should be made to email@example.com
In order to achieve a level of financial integrity commensurate with the considerable amount of funding our organisation requires, we need someone to elevate us above our current “treasurer and bank account” level. We are seeking a qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA) to install a robust financial structure for the future. This is a board appointment and in order to attend monthly board meetings applicants should be able to commute to Edinburgh on the first Tuesday evening of the month. We do not envisage that it will take more than a few hours per month. Please apply by email giving relevant details of experience etc. The only benefits this position offers is the satisfaction of being part of a small team saving part of Scotland’s maritime heritage.
Director of Fundraising (This post is now filled)
Our organisation is currently poorly funded and we have little on board fundraising expertise. We require an experienced individual to research and identify prospective trusts and other grant-giving bodies and establish a strong trust funding pipeline. This is a board appointment and in order to attend monthly board meetings applicants should be able to commute to Edinburgh on the first Tuesday evening of the month. The other functions of this appointment can be taken in your own time and schedule from home. We are ultimately looking to achieve seven figure sums to preserve the SS Explorer for the future. You will write applications to new and existing funders generating income through research and cultivation and by producing compelling cases for support.
Apply to a range of trust or other grant giving bodies with the potential to give five and six figure grants.Secure multi-year grants, as well as one-off gifts. Again, The only benefits this position offers is the satisfaction of being part of a small team saving part of Scotland’s maritime heritage.
Press, publicity and PR Manager
We require someone with expertise in the above fields to get the SS Explorer message out to the world to attract attention to our funding requirements. A person with experience in journalism or public relations would be ideal. The position would involve fostering relationships with relevant newspapers, publications and social media.
We are always seeking volunteers who can assist us in maintaining the SS Explorer. This is not an exhaustive list but we require people with skills in engineering, welding, carpentry, painting and anything else ship related. We are always interested in hearing from people who might have something to offer our organisation.
